I went to go see Coldplay on Friday in Charlotte, NC. It was one of the best experiences, ever. It was also Tax Free Weekend in South Carolina so the Store was completely packed. I was scheduled to work from 5 to 9 but that just would not work since the concert began at 7. I ended up having to switch shifts with both Hot Coworker and Sweet Coworker. Most complicated switch ever? Yes. But was it worth it? Oh yeah.
With my new schedule, I was meant to work from 11 to 3:30. We didn’t have a ton of customers during the morning but guess what time the rush started! No lie, 3:23 a huge line pops up. And I can’t stay because I live over 2 hours away from Charlotte so I have the added joy of having to run like crazy to get out of the Store in time to change and head out. Luckily, two of my managers jumped on the registers and I got to run out the door like a crazy person.
Once my friends and I got to Charlotte, we ended up at our seats, which were surprisingly good after buying them not even a week before the show. We were a lot closer than you can see in the pictures, which I didn’t take by the way. They were all taken by one of the girls that went with me. Coldplay also ended up playing on this ministage like 20 feet away from me. Amazing.
They were fantastic. Their energy was astounding and Chris Martin jumped around the stage, twirling and stuff. We also ended up totally crushing on Guy Berryman, who is tres cute.
We also had these totally drunk old people standing in front of us for like three songs. They were obnoxiously wasted and kept squirming around, along with jumping up and down. Oh and then they blocked our view when they started groping. Fun.
Luckily, they ended up making a beer run so we just moved up to their seats. They actually weren’t even their seats to begin with but they sat their since they were empty. We moved up and they were so gone that they couldn’t figure out what row they were in. They were about to ask the concession guy but then Coldplay hopped up on the stage near us and everyone went loco and started standing on seats screaming.
The main reason I wanted to see Coldplay was because I had somehow gotten ahold of Viva la Vida live and it was phenomenal. Seeing them live? One of the best things ever. And they gave out free cds of them live at the end of the show.

Glad you had fun! I was at the VZW Amp in Charlotte back in April. It’s a decent venue, but all that really matters is the band you are seeing!
Man that looks like fun!
